Hawthorn Berry

Hawthorn Berry, Latin name Crataegus oxyacantha, is a remarkable herb for restoring heart function.

The beneficial properties actually have a synergistic effect, they work with each other to result in a greater improvement than would be seen individually.

This includes Flavanoids such as quercetin, and Oligometric pro-cyanidins.

Hawthorn increases the heart's ability to contract, making it more effective.

It increases the rate of contraction and the nerve conduction to heart cells.

In addition, the circulation to the heart is increased, thus supplying the heart with more oxygen and necessary nutrients.

It also reduces vascular resistance by dilating the arteries which often has the effect of reducing high blood pressure.

Reduction in arrhythmias has been noted after ingestion of this herb.

Hawthorn may be of benefit is the following conditions: angina pectoris, arrhythmias, hypertension, ageing heart, atherosclerosis, congestive heart failure or disease, and intermittent claudication.
