Signs and Symptoms of Menopause

If you are experiencing hot flashes associated with Menopause, you are not alone. About 75% of women in the US experience hot flashes, 15% being severe.

The good news is the severity of the hot flashes usually decreases after a year or two. After that it is thought that your body becomes accustomed to the lower estrogen levels and the hot flashes are not as intolerable.

Hot flashes occur when our peripheral blood vessels dilate, thus increasing skin temperature and flushing. Cold chills usually follow the hot flashes.

Night sweats can be bothersome because of the disruption in sleep. The same mechanism is involved with night sweats as we see in hot flashes.

Stabilizing the vessels is helpful to reduce the occurrence of hot flashes and night sweats.
