Thiocid, by Thorne Research, contains alpha lipoic acid, which is an excellant anitoxidant. Primarily helpful with liver disease, alpha lipoic acid aids in viral hepatitis and chronic alcoholic liver disease. It has been shown to improve the regeneration of the liver cells. It's antioxidant effects are apparent in both fat- and water-soluable tissue. It increases glutathione levels inside the cells. It has also been shown to prevent activation of the HIV virus and lipoic acid prevents gene expression of HIV virus.

CONTRAINDICATIONS AND WARNINGS This product is contraindicated in a patient with a history of hypersensitivity to any of its ingredients. PREGNANCY WARNING A patient who is pregnant or nursing, or who might become pregnant, should consult a health-care practitioner before using this product.
